Ah, yes... It's like that time when I was in the grocery store with The Child and told him he couldn't have soda and he said "You SUCK!"... Pride, baby! Pride!

I can't remember what the discussion was about, but I remember the first time my son disagreed with me about something. He was only about 9 but he had logical reasons for his side of the debate. I think I cried. I knew that "because I said so" would never wash again. Growing pains? It's the parents that get them, not dakids.

It's all about growth. Sounds like your boy is gaining some perspective, Saucedad. And sounds like you're doing just fine.

My daughter declared once that she was going to live with Grandma, 'because she loves me more than you do'. No doubt I had just told her off for being the little madam she was. So I said 'Shall I pack a bag for you?' Her little face crumpled, and she wailed 'You don't really want me to go, do you?' So I hugged her and told her not to be so silly. 30 years on, we are the best of friends, and can talk about anything under the sun.

Do you remember what in the hell you did before you had kids? I sure don't. Can't even begin to imagine what life would be like without them.

your entry put a huge smile on my face :) I will definitely say the same thing to my kids ( when I have them). Your kid is a smart little guy, but with a dad like you, it couldn't be any different :) *HUGS*

My then 9 year old used to leave for school telling me he wouldn't be coming home later because he was going to go look for his REAL mother - I was too mean to be her. I have great joy in telling that story to his girlfriends now. Yeah I'm still mean. ;)
