Shock And Awwww--Shit?

Funny how humans react, no?

This particular diarist sat down last evening (after waiting for the server move to be complete) to do the promised happy/sappy/loving/fluff-filled piece and just stared at the monitor for a bit and got up shrugging.

He walked away from the whole prospect. If you aint feeling it? It just is not worth doingas the want-to and care-about portion of the text is deeply and truly telegraphed and rather than wasting DaReaders time, it made more sense to just let it be.

For the past couple of evenings a boy and his pop have had dinner in the living room. Eating in front of a TeeVee is not something that is the norm around household DaSauce. In fact, there is a strongly negative reaction to such in YerIdiotDiarist as food is enjoyment of same, conversation, and downtime from the rest of the day. It is a time for family to enjoy each other and flavors and talk. It would not normally be a time for the BOOBTUBE.

But then, things are a bit off kilter of late.

Do note that this pixel-pusher is not a complete idiot. The sound is never on. His kiddo gets to have the novel experience of sitting around having dinner while singing to and asking questions about the music playing in front of a TV that has close-captioning working so his dad can multitask the meal while singing and chatting as well.

Tonights selection of music DaDinner was a recent rediscovered fave DaKiddoThey Might Be Giants Childrens Album, No!. It is a good album, and requires thought about all the ideas and discordant noises and silly rhymes.

In the midst of all this DaKiddo looked up at the screen and said, Dad. They understand war, right? Even if I dont. They understand it, dont they?

His fathers response?

Geez, pal. I dont think they do. Your dad has been trying to understand it his whole life, and has even been in a coupleand he Still Doesnt Understand War.

From DaBoy?

Hrm. If they dont understand it and we dont understand it and even you dont understand it, we ought to think about skipping it next time.

DaSauce believes he may have a salient point there.

So, post meal tubbing and PeeJaying and reading and lullaby singing are completed.

Thus you get an entry. And with all the above as explanation, youll understand that if there are pauses in the content, you can KNOW that the muse wandered off in a snit and rather than dealing you a pile of steamingly-dull shit, DaSauce has stepped the phuck back for a bit.

War?

Part of this humans brainpan is acting deeply dispassionate. Understanding what is going on; knowing things; dissecting the various bits we are given and building them into a whole unit is part of his nature.

ThisIdiotDiarist is apt to need to put things in boxes or at least get all his ideas corralled properly and to do so takes data.

Some of said data is apt to have to be inferred as your government and those of the rest of the world are certainly not giving you an advance play by play out of their little bag O tricks. Further, there is a fair bit of stuff that you may never actually get to see or hear I know some of you are saying DUH, and others are looking confused because there appears to be a thrill-packed pile of content coming out of whoever your newsbureau of choice happens to be. Well. Even though there are images and noises LIVE, LIVE, LIVE (and not NUDE, NUDE, NUDE, or Girls! Girls! Girls!), this doesnt necessarily mean that the story that you have to try and collect from various sources will ever be fully toldand certainly it wont be done in a live format.

[Quickie But Slight Digression?]

Love him or hate him? One has to give The Shubs deeply-smart attack-dog Donnie I LOVE TO BE SEEN AND IN FRONT OF YOU, BUT: Fuck-you. You are asshole-Media-Peeps Rumsfeld his due. Todays laying down of the smack toward those questioning where the big pile of Shock and Awe are and when theyll be visible? [Shit. Finding this quote is a bitch this early. Ah. There.] Anyway, our loveable overseer of the war and ever so gentle public speaker was asked if things were happening in a different manner than "what we have been led to believe about the war plan," and the defense secretary quipped: "I don't believe you have the war plan . . . a fact which does not make me unhappy."

And speaking of stand up comedians? Hansel Blix (of the weapons inspector trix?) was asked about the lone scud that landed in Kuwait, and responded with If it were a SCUD, that would be a clear violation of the UN Mandate. And the follow on question about Iraq using biological or chemical warheads? Blix responded with something like, If they want to continue looking like the aggrieved party in all this, they ought not to use those. Further, they would be in direct Violation of The UN MANDATE!

Funny guys, those two.

[Digression ends.]

OK. To shorten this up? Your SauceOfUseless information is making three bets on the Iraq thing [And he is often wrong, but this with all the data accumulated? He thinks he is right on these.]

--Bet Number One. Bitch and moan all you like, well probably attack Iraq. [Sorry. Said that Sunday. It was a brain skip.]

--Bet Number Two. We took out Saddam and his sons with the 42 Cruise Missiles and Two Ton-Sized Bunker Buster Gift Pack. [Hey! Weve been on the cell phone with half of the Iraqi leadership and military trying to get them to turn over the worm for two months. Someone squealed hard and loud and accurate. [Probably Aziz...but we won't find out for a while yet, as Saddam had his family under house arrest.] Over forty of those little low-flying gifts come to about 100 million dollars and the bunker busters add another 10 mil, plus the Billion Dollar EACH Price Tag Of The Two Bombers Risked. Like wed put 2.12 Billion dollars on the line for a maybe? And by the way, if we had missed? Command&Control would be far less random over there on the part of the Iraqi government, and CIA-Chief George Tenet (as operator of the U.S. Spam Calling All Bigwigs in Iraq Cellular Network) would not be walking today. It was a three-hour meeting to decide Yea/Yay! or Nay/BOO!.

--Bet Number Three. While M-1 Abrams tanks boogie their asses up from Kuwait to Baghdad? We are chatting with every remaining Baath party leader and Saddam HomeBoy, and all the contactable individual heads of military command groups and getting them to roll over.

--Bet Number (as one was a gag) Four. Shrub comes out looking like a rose, minus the whole DESTRUCTION of American Foreign Relations Part of the deal. Well, that and the Shi'ite population as Iran must be rubbing their hands together waiting for us in the U.S. to make room for their brand of Islamic Republic. Damn, our administration is dumb.

Tonights links below are in need of an explanation.

The word win really cant be used in regard to this particularly Unilateral Move DaShrub. Because we have now added deeply to world perception about the U.S. being a nation that views their MIGHT as absolute RIGHT.

So, no matter how rare that I agree with Michael Kinsley, the piece from him (especially the final paragraph) has my full and total agreement.

The piece labeled Uncle Walter is some choice bits from Walter Cronkite. Hes a guy I have met and chatted with a couple of times and one of those times I was lucky enough to get an hour with him. As a puppy, I considered him the God Of All News.

The final bit, no matter the spin, is a commentary on how much this move on Iraq may cost us in human toll at home. There are many in the intelligence community privately feeling that this will bring more acts of terror within our borders. One of them, Rand Beers was recently head of our National Security Council and has resigned.

And above the links?

India is by NO PHUCKING MEANS an authority on International Relations (shit. Not even close. Ask the folks that live between them and Pakistan.) But the article immediately below has a pretty good and clear set of comments that mirror a ton of what has been read by YerDiarist as opinion about America by those who (understandably) are worried about our incredibly heavy handed moves. Besides, it is an editorial and one cant blame a single dumb writer for his/her whole countrys policies. [Ask this diarist. Grin.]
