I remember when my dad used to do that stuff for me. You've created yet another cherished memory for him, I'm glad you were able to pull it off. The end result is all that matters, the smile on his face.

Wonderful ending to the story. Son and Dad both learned valuable lesson. Son learned that the Easter Bunny still exists in all his/her glory and Dad learned, NEVER WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO SHOP!!!

CleversomeMommy to CluelessSingleDad: Yes I know its a big suck when you have way to smart for their own good kids that you have to bring with you every time you shop. I buy a couple things at a time and hide them under the rest of the groceries and purchases (under the dog food makes a good hide-y place), at the register I distract them with something shiny ("ooh look tinfoil! wrapped around a king sized candy bar! go get it!) and the purchases slide through. Requires starting months ahead of time but tis better than last minute panic attacks, non?

That would work except for the ritual we have where he puts everything in the cart, and unloads it. I got him involved too early to change it... he even looks at unit pricing of items now. But I may be Clueless either way, O' Cleversome person...
